THE PROGRAM OUTLINED
The program is a 180 day – TWO PHASE program structured in the following way:
Phase One – 1st 90-days – Residents live IN The Joshua House
Phase Two – 2nd 90-days – Residents live OUTSIDE of The Joshua House
Phase One
Upon arrival, residents begin Phase One by receiving an Intake Assessment by their therapist to have the policies of the program outlined, set up individual goals, boundaries and milestones. Having these goals and milestones in place is essential so that they have something to be working toward. This ensures that residents don’t become stagnant, which could lead to relapse. The next 60 days are dedicated to working their customized program and preparing for Phase Two.
Phase Two
Once Phase One is completed, residents then graduate into Phase Two, the sober tracking program. Residents are responsible for finding housing outside of The Joshua House; they are continually monitored, have their progress tracked by staff, and their employment verified. Residents can expect to be continually supported, checked in on, whether by telephone or in person (depending on location), and give Urine Analysis's. If residents remain local, they will receive one-on-one mentoring throughout their week. The Joshua House is able to track residents all over the United States by using nationwide resources to make this possible.
Sober tracking is essential because it gives the resident full independence while continuing to be given random Urine Analysis (UA’s) tests and being held accountable to a caring network that has assisted them in their recovery for the previous 90 days. The Joshua House cherishes each relationship with their residents, and works hard to build a solid relationship that will be maintained as they transition from Phase One into Phase Two. Caring staff is there to ensure that this transition is as painless as possible. Each resident will be given the continued care and support as they continue on their journey.
These two phases are imperative to a successful recovery because they offer a step down system - the more steps, or phases; one has the higher the probability of success. Each phase offers another level of stimulation and triggers, which give residents more life experience and practice to have the ability to cope with life’s challenges as they arise. This affords residents the opportunity to prove that they have gained the necessary skills to maintain a healthy and sober lifestyle. Residents can rest assure that they will be supported during each phase, and know that their program will be custom made for their individual needs.

SERVICES OFFERED
The Joshua House is a State licensed program that provides not only a safe and sober environment, but an element of on-going individual and family counseling. Just sober living is not enough; in order to ensure a lifetime of sobriety, residents need the ongoing support of a dedicated treatment team. Having this in place gives residents the opportunity to process their triggers, feelings and concerns that may have arise while now living a more independent life.
Weekly individual counseling and monthly family counseling services allow residents the support and guidance to gain necessary tools for this level of care. It is an opportunity to prove to themselves, and to others, that they have the ability to maintain a healthy, balanced and sober lifestyle. The importance of having the care and support of a licensed and professional treatment team is imperative. Each resident is given the proper amount of freedom to test the waters, while having a safe place to call home.
The program is trust-based, with the belief that: trust is the greatest human motivator.
Trust is re-enforced through the program of The Joshua House in a number of ways. Residents are afforded the chance to practice and put to the test the tools and skills learned through their previous residential treatment program, while being held accountable for their actions and reactions to life’s challenges. The importance of caring staff to provide guidance regarding the balance of freedom and accountability is essential. As trust is proven and earned, a new confidence comes over the resident.
The Joshua House offers a “real world” experience with the structure and support offered by the program, including providing all:
- Bed and lodging
- Food – including a variety of healthy and nutritious food choices
- Weekly individual therapy
- Monthly family therapy (via conference call as needed)
- A shuttle service for transportation needs
- Pass to local pool (indoor and outdoor) and/or gym

With sobriety the main focus of The Joshua House, the importance of a shuttle service is imperative. The shuttle is provided to transport residents to and from appointments and activities such as: local meetings, work, the grocery store, the gym, and other traveling needs.
During a stay, residents can expect to be learning daily living skills as well as preparing for all that lies ahead. That is why residents are expected to be active in not only their recovery, but the goal to support themselves as well. Residents are expected to be either: searching for a job, holding down a job, applying for school or other vocational goals, or attending school. The services provided by The Joshua House to aid residents with this goal include: resume building services, job searching training, applying for Vocational Rehabilitation and filling out a FAFSA for financial aid. Because residents are living in a safe and sober environment, they have the opportunity to take time and discover a career that would sustain them throughout their life. This experience gives residents tools and knowledge to guide them one step closer toward independent living.
The Joshua House prides itself on anonymity and security for all their residents. During their 90- day stay at the house, residents can expect to feel cared for, secure and safe – and know that their identity will be protected.
