What is a Residential Transitional Care (RTC) facility?
RTC Facility = Residential Transitional Care facility; above and beyond sober living. Residential Transitional Care is a sober environment enhanced by a therapeutic element; such an element is essential for a positive transition from residential treatment. The Joshua House’s treatment team picks up where the previous treatment team left off. The client doesn’t miss a beat when coming into the program.
What is the purpose of a
Residential Transitional Care (RTC) facility, such as The Joshua House?
Residential Transitional Care facilities (RTC’s) act as a lower level of care, or stepping down facility, from residential intensive inpatient rehabilitation, residential treatment and detox. These facilities play a key role in recovery because they act not only as safe environment for those committed to recovery, but also continue the therapeutic component. These facilities are a place where one can learn and find strength from other recovering addicts, from caring staff and from a devoted treatment team. Weekly individual therapy and monthly family therapy are offered to support residents in their road to recovery; residents are taught tools they will need to continue to stay sober and learn to live independently. Residential Transitional Care facilities offer a home-like atmosphere and work as a transition phase into independent living. They play an important part of the process of recovery.
Who can live at a Residential Transitional Care Facility?
Anyone transitioning from a residential treatment center or rehabilitation center (please see “Affiliates” for examples,) and individuals who are struggling with any kind of addiction, and have the desire to live a sober lifestyle may apply to live at The Joshua House. Utah law requires that no one can enter The Joshua House that has, “ever been convicted of the illegal manufacture or distribution of a controlled substance” (Section 22-6-9, A9) or has any kind of sexual conviction. Residents must be committed to strive for independence and, although there is support from a caring treatment team, each resident must be able to care for themselves. Residents are held accountable for their actions, with the key focus is on self care and continued sobriety.
What would a Residential Transitional Care facility cost me?
Compared to a traditional detox and rehabilitation, residential transitional care facilities arereasonably inexpensive in comparison to the services they offer: individual therapy, family therapy, room, board, food, all transportation, and a sober environment. Because there isn’t the strict regimen that most rehabs offer, the cost is considerably less. The benefits of living at The Joshua House are that each resident continues to be monitored and held accountable, with the goal of complete accountability and independence.
What are the requirements to live in The Joshua House?
The requirements are two fold:
- Residents must be able to care for themselves
- Residents must have been clean and sober for 30 days and
- Residents must have the desire to remain sober
If a resident uses at any time during their stay they will be asked to leave.
Am I required to have a job while staying at The Joshua House?
Although you don’t have to have a job upon applying, it is required that you begin your search and preparation for obtaining a job within thirty days of coming into The Joshua House. At The Joshua House, we aid residents in building a resume and using various tools, such as the internet, to find employment.
